| Turning from the far end of the den to head back out, you can see the equipment rack full of vintage, but useful, test equipment; used to test and repair speakers and electronic components. The oscilloscope is prominent, flanked by various signal generators. Above are two high precision frequency counters. Built before the days when LCD and other types of numeric displays became common, these units have black vertical bars, with a string of digits etched in glass in each bar, an indicator light poised behind each digit. The lights roll "chase" style in each bar, reminiscent of a slot machine, and when the measurement is complete, the digit lit in each bar presents the frequency when read left to right. To the left of the equipment rack is the stairwell to the second floor of this split-level style house. Further left are the doors to the basement and garage, respectively.
